Dr. Aaron Kaplan

Aaron Kaplan combines his clinical background in interventional cardiology with his medical device start-ups experience, focusing on early stage development. He is the co-founder of LocalMed, which developed technology to medicate the arterial wall during angioplasty. As LocalMed's first president, Kaplan presided over the initial regulatory filings and orchestrated two rounds of venture financing raising more than $10 million. He was a member of the founding of Perclose, Inc. a company pioneering arteriotomy closure, and has consulted for many medical device companies. Dr. Kaplan moved from Stanford University to join the Dartmouth faculty where he splits his time between Clinical activities primarily in the cardiac catheterization laboratory and early device development.
